PT KAI (Persero) Launches 5 New Trains to Enhance Transportation Services

Jakarta – PT KAI (Persero) officially launched 5 new trains today, Saturday (1/2/2025). This launch is part of KAI’s efforts to improve accessibility and provide better mobility solutions for the community, especially on strategic routes.

Enhancing Transportation Services

The Managing Director of KAI, Didiek Hartantyo, explained that the introduction of these five new train services aims to meet the transportation needs of the public with more comfortable, efficient, and environmentally friendly services. “KAI is committed to continuously improving services for customers. Through the launch of these five new trains, we hope that the public can enjoy more comfortable, safe, and affordable travel,” said Didiek in a statement on Saturday (1/2/2025).

Expansion of Connectivity

The launch began with the operation of five new trains with various outstanding facilities, serving strategic routes that expand connectivity between regions. “In the Daop 5 Purwokerto area, KAI introduced the Cakrabuana train, which serves the route (Purwokerto – Gambir round trip) precisely at 05.30 AM with stops at Bumiayu, Ketanggungan, Ciledug, Cirebon, Jatibarang, Haurgeulis, Pegadenbaru, Cikampek, Bekasi, Jatinegara, and arrives at Gambir station at 10.24 AM,” he said.

The Cakrabuana train consists of executive and economy classes with a total capacity of 520 seats. The launch of the Cakrabuana train was conducted by the Commercial Director of KAI, Hadis Surya Palapa, accompanied by the Vice President of Daop 5 Purwokerto, Gun Gun Nugraha, and local officials.

Improving Interregional Connectivity

Furthermore, there is also the Gunungjati train, which departed for the first time at Cirebon Station at 05.40 AM. The train, connecting Semarang Tawang Bank Jateng – Cirebon – Gambir round trip, is an effort by KAI to improve railway transportation services, especially in supporting connectivity between regions such as Semarang, Pekalongan, Tegal, Cirebon, and Jakarta.

Other train services include the Sancaka Utara train launched at Surabaya Pasarturi Station. The train, serving the route (Surabaya Pasarturi – Solo Balapan – Cilacap round trip), departed from Surabaya Pasarturi Station at 07.00 AM with an initial occupancy rate of 125%. The launching of the train by the Executive Vice President of KAI Daop 8 Surabaya, Wisnu Pramudyo, along with local government representatives, received high enthusiasm from the public.

In addition, the Madiun Jaya train officially began operating, serving the route (Madiun – Pasar Senen round trip) with executive and economy classes. The train departed from Madiun Station at 08.00 AM and arrived at Pasar Senen Station at 05.03 PM. For the return journey, the train departed from Pasar Senen at 09.10 PM and arrived in Madiun at 06.05 AM. KAI will also launch the Ijen Ekspres train at 07.30 PM by the Director of HR and General Affairs of KAI, Rosma Handayani, along with the VP of Daop 9 Jember, Hengky Prasetyo.
