Ministers Inspect Market Prices in Sidoarjo, Jawa Timur
In a recent visit to Pasar Wisata Pabean Sedati in Sidoarjo, Jawa Timur, Minister of Trade Budi Santoso and Minister of Food Coordination Zulkifli Hasan found that the price of cabai rawit was Rp 90,000 per kilogram. Zulkifli Hasan, also known as Zulhas, stated that the prices in the market were below the highest retail price and reference price, except for cabai rawit which ranged from Rp 80,000-90,000/kg.
Affordable Prices for Essential Commodities
While some food items were observed to be affordable, Zulhas mentioned that they were below the highest retail price. He added that chicken, beef, and eggs were priced below the highest retail price, indicating that prices in Jawa Timur were favorable.
Stable Prices Post-Holiday Season
Minister Budi mentioned that the price of cabai merah keriting was around Rp 48,100/kg, which was lower than the national price of Rp 51,000/kg and the reference price of Rp 55,000/kg. He reassured the public that the government is committed to ensuring stable and affordable prices for essential commodities, especially with the upcoming fasting month.
Current Price Observations
Based on today’s monitoring, some commodities were sold below or at the highest retail price and reference price. For example, medium rice was priced at Rp 12,500/kg, Bulog’s Stabilization and Food Price Supply (SPHP) rice at the same price, Minyakita at Rp 15,500/liter, beef at Rp 115,000/kg, chicken meat at Rp 38,000/kg, and chicken eggs at Rp 27,000/kg.
Looking Ahead
The government hopes that after the harvest season, the price of cabai rawit merah will decrease in the next two weeks. Other commodities such as premium rice, sugar, and garlic were also observed at affordable prices. The government’s aim is to ensure a stable and affordable food supply for the people.
